Christiane BALLAN was born BROUSTET the 22th may 1951 at Marmande (47) FRANCE
Christiane Ballan was born in France in 1951. She studied Philosophy and Sociology at the University of Bordeaux. In 1975 she specialized in Communication Techniques and began to teach film and audiovisual analysis and collaborate on short films.
1982 to 1989 she was assistant of greats directors like : Robin Davis « J’ai épousé une ombre », José Pinheiro « Les mots pour le dire », Coline Serreau « Trois hommes et un couffin », Marion Hansel « Les noces barbares » and « Il Maestro », Pierre Etaix « Vite et loin », Pascal Kane « Un jeu d’enfant ».
In 1985, she made her first short film, « Solaré » 35mm, produce by
FLACH FILM PRODUCTION national screening in France cinemas
In 1990, she developed an innovative form of performance which associate scenes of live theater with film sequences. These performances were produced from 1992 to 2005 by the association ARTS ET CULTURES : « La surfeuse des sables », « Le Galion englouti », « Les semeurs de vent », « Egyptomania », « Noire et Blanche », « Passage interdit », « Raconte nous l’Oiseau Bleu »…
Between 2002 and 2008, she made some documentaries : "Devoir de mémoire", "les jeux dans les cours de récréation", "La cause tibétaine, une longue marche"...
In 2009, she write, shoot and produce the documentarie :
"KATHAKALI, a path of life"
This film, was selectioned at Festival International Afrique-Asie-Amérique-Latine de Milan in march 2009 and at festival Etonnants Voyageurs in may 2009. The was screening in France cinemas .
In 2010 Christiane Ballan wrote the screenplay « Tibet without frontiers » and come back to South India to make some research about the Soma the drink of the Gods. After to shoot the ritual of the "Somayaga" in Kerala she wrote the screenplay :
In 2011-2012 it's the feature film « JAPAM » that she write and shoot in Kerala (South India) with indians and europeans actors.
